Carrie Louise Ward was born on August 25, 1928 in Braggs, OK to James and Lillie (Fanning) Mackey. She passed away on Monday morning, May 11, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.
Louise married George Ward in Muskogee on April 8, 1945. They made their home in Braggs where they lived their entire lives and raised their family. Louise supported her boys, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by attending their rodeos and sporting events. Louise loved her family and was an amazing cook. She was the first person in Braggs to reach out and lend a hand when someone was in need. Louise worked at the Braggs Post Office for many years where she retired as Postmaster. Everyone who knew Louise loved her. She was the backbone of her family.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Mackey; her sisters, Peggy Slape and Betty Kennedy; brother, Buster Mackey; nephews, JB Slape and Scott Slape.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, George of the home; sons, Jimmy and wife Jeanette, Johnny and wife Opal, and George Allen and wife Martha, all of Braggs; grandchildren; Terry Ward of Okmulgee, Jeff Ward and wife Dachelle of Braggs, Bryan Finck-Ward and husband Clay of Sand Springs, Jarrod Ward and wife Dena of Braggs, Traci Thomas and husband Brett of Claremore, Brad Ward and wife Jolene of Muskogee, Tonya Kizzia and husband Rodney of Haughton, LA, and Crystal Ward of Morris; 24 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Isbell and husband Billy of Ft. Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving friends.
A viewing will be 11AM-8PM, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Muskogee.
