Lewis “Lanny” L. Gibson, 60

Lewis "Lanny" L. Gibson, 60, of Fort Gibson was born July 4,1958 in Muskogee, OK to Charles and Jere (Porter) Gibson, and peacefully passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 in Tulsa with his family by his side. Lanny grew up in Fort Gibson, OK, where he received his formal education. He proudly served in the United States Navy entering January 23, 1978 in Oklahoma City, and achieved the rank of MM3 and received an honorable discharge on January 24, 1982. He reenlisted in the United States Navy on May 3, 1984 and honorably discharged again on May 2, 1990. Lanny’s career was in rebar manufacturing with Gerdau Ameristeel as a production supervisor for over 20+ years. He was an avid OU Football and athletics fan and always signed his name with OU#1. Lanny was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. ‘Benny’ Gibson Jr; and his grandma, Ruby Ballard. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Josh Gibson of Nixa, MO; grandsons, Maddox and Lukan Gibson of Nixa, MO; his mother, Jere Gibson of Fort Gibson, OK; brother, Michael Gibson and wife Donna of Fort Gibson, OK; brother, Matthew Gibson and wife Stephanie of Tuttle, OK; nieces and nephews, Kristin, Michaela and Blair Gibson all of Fort Gibson and Ashley Barnes, Kaylee and Cole Gibson all of Tuttle, OK; great nephews, Nathan and Colton Dixon of Muskogee, OK; Josh’s mother, Sonya Gibson of Muskogee; extended family and many friends. A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM. A celebration of Lanny’s life will be 2:00PM Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Forrest Kirk officiating. Honorary urn bearers are Billy Ray White, Jimmy Denton, Dave Howe, Gary Hendrix, Marcus Logan Jr., Kieran Boykins, Ryan Hytche and Anthony Lee. Committal prayers and inurnment will be at a later date at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with military honors.
