Leon Brock, 86

Born Tuesday, October 18, 1932

Died Sunday, September 22, 2019

On September 22, 2019, surrounded in love by his family, Marion “Leon” Brock entered Heaven’s gates. Leon was born on October 18, 1932 in the Elm Grove community to Francis and Viola Brock, he was born 6th of their 8 children. He grew up working on the family ranch, which he tended his entire life. October 2019 will mark the 100th anniversary of his beloved family ranch.
He met and later married the love of his life, Glenna “Sue” Brock on September 26, 1953 in Haskell, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Elm Grove Community, where they raised their son, Mitchell Brock. They shared over 60 years of life, love, and marriage, as well as countless celebrations and milestones. A longtime member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, Leon was an avid outdoorsman. He was an unparalleled provider for his family and whether by the cattle he raised, hunting, or fishing he always ensured that there was meat on the table.
Leon was fiercely protective of what was his and he worked hard to ensure that his family had all that they needed. Leon loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was at his happiest when he was either watching baseball or fishing. Leon was proud of his family and frequently enjoyed family dinners surrounded by his grandchildren and later his great grandchildren. Leon’s eyes would light up when he would get to spend time with his great grandchildren. Leon’s work ethic and strength are a legacy that will be passed down for generations to come. The true measure of a man is not in the wealth that he has amassed but rather in the strength of the love he gives his family. By those standards Leon stood as a giant among men.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years Glenna “Sue” Brock; parents, Francis and Viola Brock; brother, Wesley Brock; sisters, Mary Brock, Gladys Shackle and husband Jack, Ora Lee Raines, Mildred Fields and husband Clyde; brothers-in-law, Bud Sallee, Claude Sallee and wife, Rita, and Raymond Sallee; sisters-in-law, Martha Denison, Georgia Anderson and husband Jack.
He is survived by his son, Mitchell Brock and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Clint Brock and wife Megan, all of Elm Grove, Tara Dearman and husband Patrick of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Brody Brock, Piper Brock, and Harlie Jo Dearman; sisters, Faye Brock of Elm Grove, Naomi Payne of Wichita, KS; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Diane Sallee, Billy and Fern Sallee, Allen Sallee, Virgil and Linda Sallee, Maurine and Bob Flood, Joyce Sallee, and Bob Denison; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Leon’s family will be at the funeral home to visit with friends from 5:30-7:30, Tuesday, September 24, 2019.
Funeral services celebrating Leon’s life will be 2PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery with Ronnie Rains, Darrell Corser, Virgil Sallee, Jackie Sallee, Allen Sallee, and Paul Shackle serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Payne, Lee Sickler, Bryan Sickler, Rod Burress, and Tony Burress.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
