John Wesley Wilson was born April 9, 1965 to James and Patsy Wilson in Oklahoma City. He passed away on February 13, 2021 at the age of 55. John grew up in Muskogee and moved to Okay in 1980. He graduated from Okay High School in 1984. He married Marie Dewberry on January 13, 2017.
He lived a good life and had a great impact on his family and a host of friends. Among his most cherished experiences was working as a custodian at Okay Schools. He loved encouraging and supporting children of all ages at the school.
He was an active member at Fife Indian United Methodist Church in Muskogee.
John was preceded in death by his father, James Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of the home; his mother, Patsy Wilson of Okay; children, Justin Canady of Oklahoma City, Aaron Canady of Moscow, Idaho, Haylee Wilson of Stillwater, OK, Jonathan Robbins of Hollywood, Florida, Shelby Wilson of Muskogee, OK, and Lucky Wilson of the home; stepchildren, David Dewberry, Haylee Dawn Dewberry and Jacob Dewberry of Berryhill, OK; brothers, Haskell Wilson and wife Letha Wilson of Okay, David Wilson of Oklahoma City and Victor Wilson of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Shirley Goodlin and husband Donald of Ft. Gibson, Karen Stills and husband Mark of Okay, and Brenda Elder and husband Bobby of Muskogee; and grandson, Joseph Robbins. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews that he loved and supported dearly.
Viewing will be at the Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street in Muskogee., Saturday and Sunday, February 20-21, from 1 p.m., until 5 p.m.,on 02/20/21 and until 6p.m. on 02/21/21.
A celebration of John’s life will be 11am, Monday, February 22, 2021 graveside at Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay, OK with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Pallbearers include Shiloh Dennis, Dillon Fullerton, Dylan O’Connor, Dallas Coppin, Austin Coppin and Johnny Moran. Honorary pallbearers include BJ Climer, Todd Turner, Michael Holmes, Kevin Clayton, Rich Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Jessie Favorite, Jesse Allen, Andy Rouselot, Colton Harris, Frank Sanders, and Martin Fleming.
A memorial scholarship in John’s name has been set up at Okay High School. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to David Wilson, 115 NW 20th, OKC, OK 73103.
