Joseph (Joe) Sullivan Borovetz, 68, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. He was born on July 28, 1953 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to John Andrew Borovetz and Alma (Sullivan) Borovetz. Joe graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1971. In high school, Joe was in the band and German Club.
He married Deborah Ann Webster on July 16, 2011 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 10 years of marriage, love and many memories together.
Joe worked for Muskogee Communications for over 18 years. Previously, he worked for the City of Muskogee and at the Ritz Theater as a projectionist. Joe was involved in Amateur (HAM) Radio for over 50 years and was a member of Muskogee Amateur Radio Club. He was also a member of the TAPR organization and a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Muskogee.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Borovetz; maternal grandparents, Cora and HG Sullivan; and paternal grandparents, Joe and Anna Borovetz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie of the home and his little buddy, Waggles; aunt, Ruby Smith of Owasso, OK; special cousin, Cindy Smith of Owasso, OK; cousins, Charlie (Aida) Smith of Elkhorn, NE and their children and grandchildren, Maria (Kevin) Carmen and Oscar Brownell of Des Moines, IA, Ben (Jessica) Smith of Elkhorn, NE; brother, John Borovetz of Independence, KS and his children; special friends considered family, Chris (Dana) Condley and their children and grandchildren, Seth ( Rachael) Joye, Griffin Graham, Grady Condley, Sarah (Cameron) Tripp, Teagan Millilcan, Matt (Shanna), Stella Condley, Carrie (Kevin) Hutson and their children, Kevin (Mariah) Hutson, Preston Hutson, Cole Hutson, Kenny Hutson, Anna (John) Knapp, and Alice Hutson; and numerous cousins.
Joe’s family will greet friends 5PM-8PM, Monday, September 13, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be 10AM, September 14, 2021 at Muskogee First Lutheran Church with Pastor Wayne Schuett officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Kevin Hutson, Seth Condley, Keith Hutson, Matt Condley, Carl Wilson and Scott Wilson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Muskogee Amateur Radio Club.
