Jo “Josie” Sickler, 63

Born Saturday, November 23, 1957

Died Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Jo Ellen Sickler, mostly known as Josie, was born an Okie from Muskogee on November 23, 1957 and raised in Oktaha, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on April 20, 2021.

I don’t know much about her childhood but I know these things…She grew up playing with frogs and believing she could fly. Once, my dad said “The first time he saw her, he knew she was the one.” and my mom stayed “the one” for 43 years of marriage. However, my mom would always say, “Just because you already ordered, doesn’t mean you can’t look at the menu…” LOL! She was definitely known for her personality!

She always had a way of turning the “gushy stuff” into quick witted humor… to lighten the mood. That’s what mom was for EVERYONE. She was a light you were drawn to and wanted to stay forever there basking in her warmth and compassion. She made everyone in her presence feel like they were her favorite and really I believe we all were.

She loved her family more than her luggage...lol. That’s what she would say “love you more than my luggage” and then I would say “love you more than my shoes and my make-up”.

Mom loved to fish, camp, watch movies, and travel anywhere with my dad. She, also, loved watching and celebrating all her grandkids activities and achievements. Mom loved to fish always wanting to catch “Walter” and she did… many times. We have movie quotes that remind us of mom and many memories to celebrate her.

Josie was preceded in death by her grandmother Martha Clyde Gibson, grandfather Eli Gibson, and mother Leota Faye Jackson.

Josie is survived by her husband, Lee Weston Sickler; her son, Jason Edsel Roberts and wife, Rachel Marie Roberts; her daughter, Jessica Lee Sickler and husband, Bradley Jason Lawley; her daughter Jamie Jo Sickler; her brothers Kenny Yandell and George Yandell; her sisters Judy Heeter, Jane Kelley, and Joan Woods; her bubba Randy Heeter; her grandchildren Ashton Garrett Beane, Jason Weston Sickler Lawley, Jackson Joe Lawley, Caroline Lawley, Rianna Inez Roberts, Veronica Jayne Roberts, Sadie Brooke Machado, and Jessica Grace Machado; and many other loved cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A celebration of Josie’s life will be at 2pm, Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel.
