Jeraldine Elizabeth Washington was born on October 29, 1947, in Taft, Oklahoma to Millie B. Robertson and Julius Robertson. She graduated from Moton High School in Taft, Oklahoma. She was on the Moton High School drill team and became the school secretary after she graduated. She professed a love for Christ early on in her life, and enjoyed singing. She spent her life in church choirs and singing for her friends and loved ones.
Being the youngest of eight children she loved being around her family and all of her children. She loved being an Aunt and cherished each one of her many nieces and nephews.
She became a mother to her one and only child George Bills Jr. on February 26, 1966. She loved being a mother and believed it was one of her greatest accomplishments. She was excited to become a grandmother and great grandmother and proudly became known to her grandchildren as Granny J.
She enjoyed being around people and they enjoyed her. She worked in customer service for several years at Sears, owned and operated her own Daycare Center, and retired from Walmart after many years of service.
She answered the Lord’s calling to come home on July 24, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her father and mother Julius and Millie Robertson, siblings, Viola Roberts, Phyllis Maxwell, Talmadge D. Maxwell (T.D.), Ruth E. McBride, Wilbert Robertson, and her son George Bills Jr. precede her in death.
She leaves to cherish memories husband, Pastor James Washington of Broken Bow, OK; Siblings, Dollie M. Melville of Millvalley, CA, Esther L. Maxwell of Tulsa, OK, Julland J. Robertson of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Tori Bills of Muskogee, OK, Alyssa Duncan of Muskogee, OK; great grandchildren, Kamdyn Anderson of Muskogee, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friendships.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1715 Wewoka St. Muskogee, OK. Interment will follow in Taft cemetery.
A visitation will be conducted, Wednesday, July 31st, during the hours of 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a wake service ending at 7:00 p.m.in the Precious Memories Chapel of House of Winn Funeral Home. On Thursday, August 1st viewing will begin at the church at 10 a.m. prior to services.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn-Muskogee.
