Born Sunday, September 13, 1942
Died Saturday, August 29, 2020
James Robert Wallace was born on September 13, 1942 in Northwest District, Okmulgee in the home of his parents Reverend Melvin A. Wallace Sr. and his beautiful wife Winne Pearl Wallace. Known as “Jamie” to most , and Papa to his wife and grandchildren.
Jamie being one of six children shared wonderful memories of him and his siblings on the farm. How they worked the farm and how his brother, “skippy” loved to keep the house cleaned and how he would untuck the edge of the covers on the bed to get him going and the chase was on. How their floors were made of dirt and eating off the land was the best. Jamie accepted Christ in his life at an early age attending Northwest Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Later on, Jamie rededicate his life to the Lord being born again and baptize January 16,2012. He was a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church, Okmulgee Oklahoma also being the member of the Brotherhood Choir.
Jamie attended Dunbar High School, graduating with the class of 1961. Jamie loved to go visit friends and others who were in the Nursing Home he said, “he felt like it made their day to reminisce about the old days and see a familiar faces and talk about how good God was”. He loved watching his westerns and church on television. One of his highlights of the day would be Sitting on the porch with his wife and talking on the phone with his best friend James Hill (Beety).
Jamie worked for Country Lane in Beggs Oklahoma, as head of maintenance for 11 years and Creoks Mental Health as maintenance supervisor until he retired. Prior to those he worked for the late Judge Maroney caring for her father and other construction jobs out of state.
Jamie shared his life with the love of his life, Beatrice Wallace and with this love they had two children, Buffy Richardson and Ronald (Chico) Richardson. On August 18, 2004 Jamie and Bea entered in Holy Matrimony of 16 years until his passing. Bea would tell Jamie “ Papa we have had some good and bad times as couples but we found God together Hallelujah, Hallelujah” Jamie would always say he was ready when the good Lord find it fit to take him home, that he didn’t want to be left behind and he knows that he is going to heaven.
His passing was so peaceful and by God’s grace we witness him leaving this old world. After his grandson said “Pops I’m going to play you one of our favorite songs. “You used to play in the white truck when I was a little boy. And so on the afternoon of August 29, 2020 His grandson placed his phone to his papa’s ear and played “Cruisin” by Smokey Robinson and after the song played and 77 years of life Jamie's soul left his body and was at peace.
