James Patrick Crossno (JP), 98 years and one day, of Hulbert, OK was born May 20, 1924, in Stigler, OK to Buford and Viola Katherine (Wilson) Crossno and peacefully passed away May 21, 2022, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He joined the United States Army on January 17, 1944, and served in WWII receiving the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon and One Bronze Service Star, and was honorably discharged on May 22, 1946.
James married his best friend and the love of his life Laura Mayfield in 1951. She preceded him in death in September 2000. Together they shared many years of precious memories.
He was employed with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at the Ft. Gibson Dam Project Office in Ft. Gibson, OK for 23 years, retiring in 1986.
James enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching his wildlife while drinking his coffee. Saturday mornings were spent playing dominos with his family and friends. James was very competitive and took it very seriously. He loved spending time with his family and friends, sharing memories & teaching valuable life lessons.
James is lovingly survived by his daughters, Alta Goldston and husband Roy, La Quita Stover and husband Steve, and Janine Goodwin and husband Bill; sons, Pat Crossno and wife Robbie, Mike Crossno and wife Charlene, and Phillip Crossno and wife Bonnie; a sister, Joan Coward; 26 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 3 brothers; wife, Laura; and son, James (JL) Wilson.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 27, 2022, from noon to 5PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson, OK. Family will receive friends during visitation on Monday, May 30, 2022, from 5PM to 7PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held 1:30PM, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Pastor John Martin officiating. Full Military Honors will be observed.
