James Fielding Roller, Jr., 84

Born Monday, November 25, 1935

Died Tuesday, November 10, 2020

James Fielding “Jim” Roller, Jr., 84, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. He was born on November 25, 1935 to James Fielding Roller, Sr., and Anna Francis (Hamlin) Roller in Rosston, Oklahoma. Jim was a graduate of Fort Supply High School before graduating from Ponca City School of Nursing in 1959 and Southwest Missouri School of Anesthesia in Springfield, Missouri in 1962.
He married the love of his life, Rita Marie Feist, on January 3, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Medford, Oklahoma. They shared over 61 years of life, love and marriage together.
As a nurse anesthetist, Jim served his country as an officer for 15 years in the U.S.A.F. and was honorably discharged at the rank of Major. He then worked at Muskogee VA Hospital for another 15 years. He also did locum tenums for 5 years on Indian Reservations in the southwest and later at the Triad Eye Institute in Muskogee and Tulsa for 15 years more before finally retiring to his books, history channel and greenhouse.
He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed deeply by everyone who knew and loved him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James, Sr. and Anna Roller; Rita’s parents, Ben and Elma Feist; and daughter, Jennifer Roller Gillespie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita of the home; daughters, Ann Stewart and husband Mike of Muskogee, OK, Janet Mavers and husband Doug of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jama Mitchell and husband Mark of Wichita, KS; grandson, James Stewart of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughters, Melissa McLain and husband Wade of Fort Gibson, OK, and Tiffany Morris and husband Chris of Bel Aire, KS; great-granddaughter, Brooke Morris of Bel Aire, KS; cousin, Aloha Lynn Harris and husband Larry, sweet kitty Boo Boo, as well as many other family members and friends.
A rosary will be 7PM-8PM, Monday, November 16, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be 10:30AM, Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with celebrant Father Richard Cristler officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
