James Calvin ‘Jim’ Holt, 91, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022, in Muskogee with his loving wife, two sons, and daughter by his side. Jim was born on December 21st, 1930, in Walters, Oklahoma to James Edmond and Bertha (Arnold) Holt. Jim proudly served his country as a member of the Air Force over a sixteen-year period, serving during the Korean War, and receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Captain in July of 1969. He married the love of his life, Frances Walls of Cromwell, Oklahoma on September 13th, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim and Fran celebrate their 64th anniversary this year. Jim was a proud graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity (ATO) at the U of A. He also enjoyed seeing his name on Senior Walk next to Old Main. Jim began his career with Warren Petroleum Company. He was also employed by Burroughs Corporation and Phoenix Federal Savings. Jim retired in the year 2000 after twenty-five years at Oklahoma Rig and Supply as their Financial Vice President. Jim had many interests and hobbies. In his younger years, he was a high school gymnast. He was also a member of a boxing club. He played baseball for the Air Force, semi-professionally. Additionally, he played in many adult city and church softball leagues. Jim passed on the love of sports to his children, and in their developmental years, the family could often be found on the ball field, either watching or participating, often with Jim as their coach. Jim had a lifelong love of dancing and classic country music and could be known to spontaneously dance anywhere. Jim was a man of strong faith and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Muskogee for over 50 years. Many great memories were made because of his ability to enjoy life to its fullest. In his retirement years, Jim could be found either on the golf course, enjoying working on the family property, or working on many home-improvement projects. He enjoyed time with family and friends best of all. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James E. Holt; mother, Bertha Arnold Muncy; and stepfather, Richard Muncy. Those left to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife, Fran; his children, Clay Holt and wife, Barbara, of Bentonville, Arkansas; David Holt of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Julie Holt of Newport Beach, California; grandchildren, Calvin, Cara, and Caitie; siblings, Vera Holt Woodward of Edmond, Oklahoma; Sue Muncy Pyatt, and husband Bob of Springdale, Arkansas; and Shirley Muncy Fowler of Hackett, Arkansas; extended family and many friends. Jim's committal service will be 1:30PM Friday, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK with Military Honors being observed. His celebration of life will be 2:30PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating.
