Jacqueline “Jackie” C. Smith, 72

Born Tuesday, August 19, 1947

Died Friday, September 27, 2019

Jacqueline “Jackie” C. Smith, 72, of Fort Gibson, OK was born August 19, 1947, in her childhood home, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully Friday, September 27, 2019 at her home in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
Jackie was one of nine children born to Robert Jackson Cooper and Ana Lucille (Smith) Cooper.
She started working at Fort Gibson Public Schools as a cook in 1978 where she retired from. After retirement, she went onto cleaning homes and help the elderly until she was no longer able.
She married the love of her life Kenneth Smith on March 27th, 1965 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. They had three children William Jackson who passed at birth, Kenneth Shawn, and Kimberly Rena.
Jackie loved life. She loved spending time with family boating and camping at Tenkiller Lake. She loved playing co-ed softball and enjoyed watching her children in their activities. She loved working in the yard and planting flowers. Jackie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Granny Jack, the name stuck so well that’s how everyone referred to her. Shawn recalls his mother being extremely supportive of everything he did, including when he wanted to be in band playing the drums. Kim enjoyed cooking with her mom, sneaking around with her to watch TV shows that Kenneth found silly, always being able to call her and ask about recipes, and take care of Trent when he was young. Mike recalls anytime he would go help around the house or yard she would make him beans and cornbread. No one can make cornbread like Granny Jack. Trina recalls that Jackie welcomed her into the family immediately. Jackie would teach Trina the family recipes. Trent always enjoyed his Granny Jack's biscuits and gravy and helping her pick up sticks around the yard to have weenie roasts. They always played "Sorry". When Trent was in a car seat, they would drive around in the blue van and Trent would make noises to drive Granny Jack crazy. Aubrae recalls Jackie’s soft hugs every visit, always including her like her own grandchild. Gavin recalls Granny Jack teaching him to cook bacon and biscuits and gravy and chocolate milk. He hated when she would call him her little man.
Jackie is survived by her children; Shawn Smith and wife Trina, Kim Sharp and husband Mike; grandchildren Trent and wife Aubrae Sharp and Gavin Smith; nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family would like to invite everyone to Jackie’s Celebration of Life 3:00PM Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Frank Gladd American Legion Post #20 in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
The family of Jacqueline “Jackie” C. Smith has entrusted her cremation to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. 918-478-2555. Online condolences may be left at clifforddgarrettfamilyfh.com
