Jack W. Macomb, 81

Born Friday, August 27, 1937

Died Tuesday, July 16, 2019

Jack Macomb, 81, of Muskogee, was called home to Heaven on July 16, 2019. Jack was born August 27, 1937 to John O. Macomb and Mary Ava (Seals) (Macomb) Crane in Porter, Oklahoma. He graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1955. On January 30, 1957 he married the love of his life and best friend, Doris Maxine (Clark) Macomb. They were happily married for 62 years and worked side by side throughout their marriage in service to the Lord. Jack was an insurance agent in Muskogee before deciding later in life to complete his education, earning a Bachelors of Science in Education from Northeastern State University. He retired from teaching Social Studies at Haskell High School, and fully dedicated the remainder of his life to God, church, and family. He was Pastor at East Shawnee Church of God in Muskogee from 2004 to 2019. His favorite pastimes were fishing and deer hunting.
The phrase “To know him is to love him” could have been written about Jack. He greeted everyone with a warm smile that immediately made them feel comfortable and at ease. He was known for little sayings and jokes that made everyone laugh and smile along with him. He was always the person people knew they could count on to be there for them. He willingly and lovingly spent long hours at the bedsides of sick friends and family members, on call day or night. He was always there to pray with you, provide a ride, or lend a listening ear. He was the most amazing and supportive father. His children would not have traded him for the world.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, John Macomb; his parents, Robert E. and Mary Ava Crane; his granddaughter, Cassandra Dawn Taylor; and daughter-in-law, Debbie (Ford) Macomb.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Doris Maxine Macomb; brother, Glenn Macomb (and wife Karen); sister, Earlene Salyers (and husband JR); son, Michael W. Macomb, Sr. (and wife Lynn), all of Muskogee; daughter, Jackie Frock, of Oklahoma City, daughter, Melissa Welsby (and husband Allan), of Scotland, daughter, Julie Macomb (and fiancé Stormie Rice), Muskogee; grandchildren, Katy Graham (and husband Sean), Ashley Macomb, Michael Macomb, Jr., all of Muskogee, Brandi Smith (and husband Phil), Caroline Koch (and husband Matt), Madeline Frock, all of Oklahoma City, Brianna Taylor (and fiancé Cayton Moore), of Norman; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a large group of extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30PM, Friday, July 19, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10am, Saturday July 20, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel in Muskogee. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
