Helen Marie Huggins, 87

Born Friday, January 13, 1933

Died Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Helen Marie Huggins, 87, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. She was born on January 13, 1933 to Ernest Walter Edwards and Rosie Lee (Chandler) Edwards in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She grew up and attended Muskogee Public Schools.
Helen married the love of her life, Floyd Wayne “Hoot” Huggins, on June 29, 1963 at Southeast Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared many years of life and marriage together.
Helen was an LPN at Muskogee Bone and Joint Clinic until her retirement in 1992. She also was a ribbon runner for rodeo. Helen was of the Baptist faith. She had many hobbies she that enjoyed including painting, sewing, gardening and going to rodeos. Helen was a NOTRA member for many years. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. Helen will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie Lee and Ernest Edwards; her husband, Hoot Huggins; sister, Bunny Robison; brother, Jack B. Edwards; and stepchildren, Jimmy Jack Huggins and Lawanta James.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sharlet Balcom; grandchildren, Heather Phipps and husband Jim and family, Dawn Knupp and husband Mike and family, stepchildren, Debbie Vandiver and husband Danny and family, Mary Lou Huggins, Marsha Madewell, and Johnny and Denise Huggins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be 1PM, Monday, September 14, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Middleton Chapel Cemetery with Jim Phipps, Mike Knupp, Noah Bourassa, Dustin Vandiver, Drew Vandiver and Darrin McDaniel serving as pallbearers.
