Gwen Vandiver, 67, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2021. She was born on September 7, 1954 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Gwen graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1973.
She married the love of her life, John Gilbert Vandiver, on June 7, 1975 at Checotah First Baptist Church. They shared many years of life, marriage and family together.
Gwen was a licensed childcare provider since 1989 and was the owner of Miss Gwen’s Daycare for many years. She absolutely loved her job and all the children she provided care for. Gwen was a member of Muskogee First Assembly. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, making arts and crafts, playing games, and was an avid reader. Gwen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, John Vandiver; parents, Howard and Martha Blankenship; Gloria Livingston, David Meeks, Marty Livingston and John Lansden II.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Morphis and husband Taf, son Jonathan Vandiver and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Vann, Jenna and Gunner; step-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Joscelyn; brother, Frankie Livingston; Karen and John Lansden; Judy Pannell; Jim and Jane Blankenship; Doug, Brian, Mylissa, Julie, Shelly Meeks, and Claud Meeks; dear friend, Rusty Raper; and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of Gwen’s life will be 10AM, Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Muskogee First Assembly of God with Matthew Vandiver and Dr. Steve Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with pallbearers, Jon Vandiver, Gunner Vandiver, Taf Morphis, Vann Morphis, Grant Polk, Jeremy Nichols, Jordan Vandiver and Mike Every. Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie Livingston, John Lansden, Sr., Sean Kennedy, Kyle Hayes, Josh Lewis, Jake Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Drew Nichols, Wes Ledbetter, Rick Mullins and Jason Dowdy.
