Gordon Lee Hughey, Sr. 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, February 10, 2020. He was born in Van Buren, Arkansas to Clinton Lee Hughey and Sylvia (Knox) Hughey on May 5, 1941. On May 3, 1961 he married Lola Mae (Shipley) Hughey, they spent over 50 memorable years together. He worked as a truck driver and diesel mechanic for many years. He worked for J & J Trucking, Trucks For You, WP Feeds, and R&L Trucking, retiring in 2008.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Sylvia Hughey; wife, Lola Hughey; daughter Cleta Phillips.
He is survived by his sons, Virgil Hughey and Brenda of Warner, Oklahoma, Gordon Hughey, Jr. of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Mark Hughey of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Bobby Hughey and Tammy of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Curtis Hughey and Shelly of Muskogee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Allen Hughey, Dustin Hughey, Cody Hughey, Mark Hughey, Kyle Hughey, Tiffany Carter, Sarah Hughey, Haylie Hughey, Callie Hughey, Shannon Phillips, Lisa Erie, and Misty Scott; great-grandchildren, Ardyn Mae Hughey, Allen Wheeler, Caden Carter, Kasen Hughey, Bailey Hughey, Cameron Hughey, Conner Hughey, Alli Hughey, Emmi Hughey, Callie Hughey, Baron Scott, Lyric Banks, Zane Bear, Isabelle Piñon, Cash Phillips, Justice Green, Alexandria White; great-great-grandchildren, Athena Green and Emerie Rose Hughey; brothers, Roy Hughey and Virginia of Yukon, Oklahoma, Larry Hughey and Pam of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Mildred Rogers and Harold.
A celebration of Gordon’s life will be 9:00am Friday, February 14, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Allen Hughey, Dustin Hughey, Mark Hughey, Cody Hughey, Cameron Hughey, Connor Hughey serving as Pallbearers. Mike Herx will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
