Glenda Joyce Herrera, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born on January 7, 1943 to Bill Walters and Opal (Mackey Walters in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Glenda graduated from Muskogee Central High School and later graduated from OSU with a degree in commercial lending in 1991.
Glenda married the love of her life, Gene A. Herrera, on August 9, 1968 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared just shy of 54 years of life, love, family and many memories together.
Glenda was promoted to vice president at Citizen’s Bank and was responsible for all aspects of commercial lending. She was a board member of Muskogee Welfare Association, The Red Cross, and the Civitan Club for many years. Glenda also served on the board for CASA, Muskogee Day Nursery and United Way. She was a faithful member of Muskogee First Baptist Church. Glenda loved her family and cherished every moment with them. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Opal Walters; brother, Billy Don Walters; and niece, Vickie Walters.
She is survived by her husband, Gene of the home; daughters, Angela Garrett and husband Mark of Muskogee, OK, and April Cluff and husband Mark of Wagoner, OK; grandchildren, Cayden and Kendall Cockle of Muskogee, OK, Sarah, Marshall, and Tora Garrett of Muskogee, OK, Michael, Mitchel and Tucker Cluff of Wagoner, OK; brother-in-law, Max Herrera of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law, Mamie Palmer of Muskogee, OK; all her special nieces; special friends, George and Betty Ladd; and many other family members and friends.
We would like to give a very special thank you to our hospice nurses, Katie, Jimmey, Morgan and Ashley. You provided such compassion and care. Thank you also to Katie Garner and Joy Nelson for taking such good care of mom. She adored you girls.
A celebration of Glenda’s life will be 10AM, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Muskogee First Baptist Church with Dr. George Ladd officiating.
