Gerald Nelson, 73

Born Saturday, February 23, 1946

Died Monday, November 4, 2019

Gerald Nelson, 73, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019. He was born on February 23, 1946 to Selva Lee Nelson and Pauline (Cook) Nelson in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He attended and graduated from Muskogee Central Highschool. On September 1, 1972, he married the love of his life Karen Sue Nelson, at Fairview Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Gerald worked at Zapata Industries for many years before retiring in 2001. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was also a faithful member at Southeast Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Sue Nelson; parents, Selva and Pauline Nelson; brothers, Johnny Lee Nelson and Hubert Eugene Nelson; and sister, Bonnie Dean Taff.
He is survived by his brother, David Selva Nelson and Carolyn of Chouteau, Oklahoma; sister, Judy Nelson of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Ellen Nelson and Joyce Nelson; numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
A celebration of Gerald’s life will be 12:30pm Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Fred Bailey, Hershel Mayle, Steve Cumbey, Al Hallum, and Larry Isom serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Emmanuel Sunday School Class of Southeast Baptist Church.
