George Clinton Ward, 93

Died Wednesday, April 7, 2021

George Clinton Ward was born on July 5, 1927 in Wardville, OK to Reverend John and Nita (Wyrick) Ward. He passed away in his home on Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021 in Braggs, OK.
George’s family moved around a lot when he was young and they landed in Braggs when he was in 4th grade. While in Braggs, he met Louise Mackey. They married on April 8, 1945 in Muskogee, OK. They were married for 75 years. They lived their entire lives in Braggs where they raised their children.
While George was a young man he was a farmer. He retired from HB Egan and was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge. George loved telling stories and could be found sitting on the porch with family and friends. He loved drinking Mt. Dew, working in the garden, and shelling peas on the porch. You can drive around Braggs and see his work in yards all over town. His birdhouses and metal work crafts are a staple in the community.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ward; his parents, John and Nita Ward; his brothers, Everett and Bill Ward; sisters, Juanita Harris and Naomi (Rushie) Irving; nephews, Jerry Ward, Dale Ward, Billy Ward, John Arnold Irving, and Jack Harris.
He is survived by sons, Jimmy and wife Jeanette, Johnny and wife Opal, and George Allen and wife Martha, all of Braggs; grandchildren Terry Ward of Okmulgee, Jeff Ward and wife Dachelle of Braggs, Bryan Fink-Ward and husband Clay of Sand Springs, Jarrod Ward and wife Dena of Braggs, Traci Thomas and husband Brett of Claremore, Brad Ward and wife Jolene of Muskogee, Tonya Kizzia and husband Rodney of Haughton, LA, and Crystal Ward of Morris, 25 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving friends.
George’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Monday, April 12, 2021 at South Bethel Cemetery in Braggs with Mr. Keith Weant officiating.
