Gale Yvonne Flores, 85, of Inola, OK was born June 13, 1936 in Knoxville, TN to Leonard and Blanch (Coker) Hankins and peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in Fort Gibson, OK.
After high school she attended the Tennessee Industrial School. She later met, fell in love and married John Chavez Flores, together they spent many years making precious memories together. To this union 4 children were born.
Gale worked by walking the high wires with The Flying Wallendas, a circus act and a group of daredevil stunt performers who perform highwire acts without a safety net. They were first known as The Great Wallendas, but the current name was coined by the press in the 1940’s and has stayed since. She retired after 25 years as a Senior Psychiatric Technician at the Camarillo State Hospital in Southern California. Gale spent her time doing volunteer work with CASA of Cherokee County. Gale was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Cookson, OK for many years. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Gale is lovingly survived by her husband, John of the home; daughters, Vicki Velasquez Leandro of Malden, MA and Claudine Marie Flores of Tahlequah, OK; sons, John Scott Flores of Inola, OK, and Preston James Florez of Inola, OK; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; her brother, Tommy Hankins of Florida; extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
