Floyd Edward Guthrie, 87, of Oktaha, Oklahoma went to his eternal Heavenly home on Monday, September 6, 2021. He was born October 9, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Virgil F. Guthrie Sr. and Bertha Mabel (Perry) Guthrie.
Floyd proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
He married the love of his life and best friend, Sue Barnes on June 1, 1956. They shared more than 65 years of a wonderful marriage, life, and making memories together.
He worked for Douglas Aircraft for many years and later for Egan’s Manufacturing and Floyd’s Insulation, retiring after many years of service to be a full time rancher.
Floyd loved spending time outdoors working on his ranch and tending to his cattle and farm but most important was his family.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bertha Guthrie; brothers, Charles Guthrie, Virgil F. Guthrie Jr, Carrol Guthrie, Leo Guthrie, and John Guthrie; sister, Lena Mae Hatcher; brothers-in-law, Ed Hatcher and Loyd Morgan; sisters-in-law, Joan Guthrie and Maxine Guthrie.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Sue, of the home; two daughters, RaNaile Clymer and husband Leon, Vivian Davis and husband Kent, all of Muskogee; one son, Mark Guthrie and wife Terri of Oktaha; five granddaughters, Kristen Nanni and husband Chip of Wagoner, Morgan Tholl and husband Dalton of Oktaha, Tiffany Hammonds and husband Kris of Collinsville, Courtney Harbaugh and husband Teddy of Sand Springs, Alyson Madewell and husband Austin of Muskogee; six grandsons, Brandon Nickell and wife Lauren of Muskogee, Mark Daniel Guthrie of Oktaha, Josh Davis and wife Andrea of Checotah, Nick Davis and wife Beth of Tahlequah, Erik Howell and wife Alex of OKC, Grant Howell and wife Jennifer of Muskogee; great-granddaughters, Abri Nanni, Madison Davis, Alexis Davis, Emma Davis, Natalee Hammonds, and Makynlee Davis coming in January 2022, Mabree Madewell, Brynlee Howell, and Blakely Howell; great-grandsons, Chase Nanni, Pierce Nickell, Jaxon Guthrie, Kameron Davis, Tucker Tholl, Kalon Guthrie, Jett Hammonds, Colton Hammonds and Madden Madewell; three brothers, Clarence Guthrie and wife Helen, Cleo Guthrie and wife Eunice all of Muskogee, Cecil Guthrie and wife Patty of Wainwright; one sister, Freeda Morgan of Muskogee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family, and a host of friends.
Floyd’s life will be celebrated at 1PM, Friday, September 10, 2021 at Muskogee First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Clarence Guthrie, Rev. Cecil Guthrie, and Mr. Cleo Guthrie officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Brandon Nickell, Mark Daniel Guthrie, Josh Davis, Nick Davis, Chip Nanni, Dalton Tholl, Erik Howell, and Grant Howell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Goodwin, Garry Guthrie, Mike Guthrie, and Mitchell Guthrie.
