Eutie Inez Reece, 87, passed away Wednesday September 8, 2021. She was born September 18, 1933 on the family farm near Bryson Texas to Miles and Ruby Preston.
On the death of her mother, she moved to Boles Home, an orphanage run by the Church of Christ, near Quinlan Texas. At the age of 13, while still living at Boles Home, she joined the Bel Canto Chorus, an acapella chorus that traveled the country during the summer months singing in various churches.
She lived at Boles Home until she graduated from high school, after which, she attended Abilene Christian College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught second grade before marrying in 1956.
Eutie married Donald Wayne Reece on March 8, 1956 in Littlefield, Texas. They shared more than 62 years of life and marriage together.
She taught elementary school in Laredo Texas from 1970 to 1977. She returned to teaching in 1984 and continued teaching until her retirement in 1994 when she moved to Muskogee OK to enjoy spending time with family, tending her flower garden, making quilts and doing embroidery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Ruby Preston; siblings, Emmet, Joe Lonnie and Maurice Preston; daughters, Catherine Ellen Reece, Connie Fraser; son, Gary Reece ‘and grandson, Johnny Frazier; and husband, Donald W. Reece.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald Reece of Texas City, TX and Donald Reece Jr. of Sedalia, MO; and daughter, Linda Milam of Muskogee, OK; brother, Wayne Preston of Witchita Falls, TX; sister, Pearl Snyder of Garland TX; grandchildren, Ronald Reece Jr of Lafayette, IN, Justin Warner of Springfield, MO, Jessica Warner of Phoenix AZ and Stevie Fraser of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Eutie’s life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bob Hancock officiating.
