Duane Forrest Sells passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in Muskogee, OK. He was born on August 3, 1951 to Marcella Sells in Waterloo, Iowa.
Duane joined the United States Army and was part of the K Co.75th Ranger Regiment. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam Era from 1968 to 1972.
Duane married the love of his life Mary Louise Elsey on June 12, 1972 in Muskogee, OK. They shared 49 years of life, marriage and memories together.
He worked as a Chief of Environmental Service for the VA Hospital. He retired from the VA Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota in 2002.
He was a member of the Creek Nation Honor Guard.
Duane loved spending time with his grandkids and family. He enjoyed working in the yard with his wife. He loved old ford trucks and was an avid gun collector. He loved to read books especially Louis Lamour. He loved John Wayne and enjoyed going to estate sales.
He was preceded in death by his mother Marcella Glass; stepdad, Henry Glass; sisters Tina Ryder, Carmelita Mcintosh, Sally Glass; brothers, Fitzgerald Glass and Hank Glass.
Duane is survived by his wife Mary Sells; daughter, Christina and husband Steve Bolen; son, Duane and wife Jolene Sells; grandchildren, Stephanie and James Botts, Brittany and Cale Smith, Nicholas and Abilgail Shaw-Bolen, Bradley Craft and Drea Browder, Taylor Sells and Jarrod Nicholson, Duane Sells; great-grandchildren, Bennett Botts and Louis Shaw-Bolen; siblings, Joey and Sandra Glass, Terry and Rocky Parks, Devin Glass, Thompson Glass, Cindy Glass and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Family will greet friends 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Muskogee, OK.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel in Muskogee, OK with Rev. Bill Crow officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 12:30 P.M. in Fort Gibson, OK. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Shaw Bolen, Duane Sells, Cale Smith, James Botts, Mike Elsey and TJ Elsey. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bradley Craft.
