Dorothy Lee Moore, 88

Born Saturday, April 11, 1931

Died Saturday, November 23, 2019

Dorothy Lee Moore, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 after a long illness. Dorothy was born April 11, 1931 in Barling, Arkansas. She graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1949. After working as an LPN in Fort Smith, Arkansas she married Bob Moore in 1953.

Dorothy worked as a lab technician at the VA Hospital in Muskogee before becoming a stay at home mother to Lisa, Lori, and Toby. In 1979, she returned to work as a Children's Librarian at Muskogee Public Library, a position she held until her retirement in 1996.

Dorothy's husband of 44 years, Bob, died in 1997. Dorothy spent the rest of her years as a dear friend to many and doting on her grandsons Jordan and Robert.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Bob and daughter Lori Moore. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Hurd and son-in-law Todd Hurd of Fairview, Texas, son Toby Moore and daughter-in-law Katherine of Tulsa, Oklahoma, grandson Jordan Hurd and wife Kelsey of Carrollton, Texas, grandson Robert Moore III of Jenks, and Alice Moschak, caregiver and special friend, Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Dorothy was affectionately known as THE Nana by all who loved her. She spent her life unselfishly helping those who needed her. She instilled the love of books and learning to hundreds of children through her work as Mrs. Moore, “The Library Lady.”

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 27 at 12:30 PM at Cornerstone.

Nana, we thank you for your love, kindness and devotion to us throughout your remarkable life. You will be greatly missed. We love you.
