Donnie Ashworth, 68

Born Thursday, March 13, 1952

Died Monday, September 21, 2020

Donald Oliver Ashworth Jr., 68, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 after a 13 year long courageous battle with Huntingtons disease. He was born March 13, 1952 in Alameda, California to Donald Oliver Ashworth Sr. and Loretta Doris (Wallace) Ashworth. Donnie attended public schools and graduated from Arroyo High School in San Leandro, California with the class of 1970. He would later attend Platt College in Tulsa where he obtained an associate’s degree.
He met and later married his best friend, Linda Gail Dudley on August 19, 1972 in San Leandro, California. They shared more than 48 years of life, marriage, and making memories together.
Donnie and Linda moved to Oklahoma where they made their home and raised their family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He worked as a draftsman and product designer for Coburn Optical and Acme Engineering. Lastly, he worked at Centrilift retiring in 2013.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing softball and volleyball, and camping in the mountains. He was a faithful and active member at Timothy Baptist Church until his health began to fail.
Donnie was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Ashworth.
He is survived by his wife, Gail, of the home; daughter, Traci West (James); son, Dustin Ashworth, all of Muskogee; grandchildren, Chelsi Jacobs of Tulsa, Trey Ashworth of OKC, Aubri West and Candon West, both of Muskogee; father, Donald Ashworth Sr.; sister, Arletta Ashworth, both of Las Vegas, NV; along with nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends who will greatly miss him.
Donnie’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Friday, September 25, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James West, Dustin Ashworth, Candon West, and Trey Ashworth.
The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the staff of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center and Compassus Hospice for the care and concern shown to Donnie.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to Hereditary Neurological Disease Center, 9300 E 29th St N, Ste 350, Wichita, KS, 67226.
