Donald Pharis Hamilton, 100, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born August 5, 1920 to Grover Cleveland Hamilton and Pansy Peach Pharis Hamilton in Beggs, Oklahoma.
Sgt. Hamilton served in the United States Army, 45th Infantry, during World War II. He felt pride in serving with and pain in losing many close friends during battles in N. Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters, American Defense Service Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. His service time began on September 9, 1940 and ended on September 28, 1945 with an honorable discharge.
Donald married the love of his life, Mollie Joyce Goodman, on June 23, 1946 in Beggs, Oklahoma. They shared 73 years of marriage, life, family and memories together.
Donald worked at Nabisco as a salesman for 29 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Pansy Hamilton; his wife, Mollie Hamilton; sons, David N. Hamilton and Duane V. Hamilton; his daughter-in-law, Nancy Hamilton; four brothers, Ted, James, Robert and David; and one sister, Winifred.
He is survived by his sons, Don G. Hamilton of Grove, OK, Darrell D. Hamilton and wife Linda of Holiday, FL, and Dale O. Hamilton and wife Pam of Tahlequah, OK; grandchildren, Donnie J. Hamilton, Devin T. Hamilton, Denise C. Warner all of Yukon, OK, Darrell D. Hamilton Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Derrick M. Hamilton of Edmond, OK, Candice E Ray of Tarpon Springs, FL, Casie D. Hamilton of Owasso, OK, Carie D. Singleton of Muskogee, OK, Amanda J. Hamilton of Bixby, OK, Morgan A. Ross of Muskogee, OK, Carie L. Maloney of Skiatook, OK, Jacob A. Tiger of Tahlequah, OK and Joseph A. Tiger of Muskogee, OK; 23 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 3-5PM, Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Donald’s life will be 11AM, Monday, August 2, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Beggs Cemetery with military honors being presented. Chuck Albin, Alan Rowlett, Don Dailey, Donnie Hamilton, Ed Field and Derrick Hamilton will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be A.B. Clark.
