Donald E. Jones, 82

Died Friday, December 28, 2018

Donald “Don” Eugene Jones, 82, of Porum, Oklahoma passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born June 29, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ernie Emery Jones and Anna C. (Manier) Jones. He attended public schools and graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indiana.
Don proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War and received an Honorable Discharge in 1957.
He worked as an insurance salesman for Humana and retired after many years of service.
He married Brenda Carol Arnett on November 16, 1993 in Oatman, Arizona and they shared more than 25 years of life and marriage together.
Don enjoyed ice fishing in his younger years. He was known for his meticulous lawns and love of traveling and seeing all the sights of the United States. While living in Indiana, he developed a passion for Indy racing and always looked forward to attending the Indianapolis 500. He also enjoyed listening to country music. After moving to Porum, he became a member of the V.F.W. and the Moose Lodge.
Don will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Anna Jones; siblings, Patricia Hughes, Wanda Kaufman, and James Jones; and stepson, Robert Alfred.
Don is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; sons, Mark, Eric, Darryl, Aaron, Jason, Cody, and Blake Jones; daughters, Cathy Glenn and husband Randy, and Cheyenne Jones; stepdaughters, Leslie Bryant, Dr. Kimberly Durossette and husband Floyd, all of Oklahoma; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; all of whom he loved very much; his sister, Thelma Roark of Indiana; along with other family members and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be 2PM, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Kevin Gilchrist officiating and Military Honors being presented. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his sons and grandsons.
