Dessie Faye (Eller) Hobbs, 81, of Muskogee, Oklahoma was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her Lord and her husband, Jack on Sunday, November 8, 2020. She was born July 13, 1939 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to James Arvil “Ab” and Mabel Correne Eller.
Dessie attended Longfellow School, West High, and Central High. She later attended Virgil’s Beauty College and worked as a beautician.
She married the love of her life and best friend, Jack Kenneth Hobbs, on September 2, 1955 at Bethel Baptist Church in Muskogee. They shared many years of life, marriage, and memories.
She loved being a homemaker for her family and enjoyed shopping, cooking, and bowling in a league with her sisters for many years.
Dessie considered it a great privilege and honor to serve beside her husband and be the First Lady of Ash Street Baptist Church for over 30 years. She was in charge of the children’s church ministries along with all the duties of being a pastor’s wife. Dessie and Jack retired in 2009.
During her time at Prairie House Assisted Living, Dessie gained a love for painting; some of which will be displayed at her service. She developed a special friendship with Nerva Lane who was there daily, especially during her last days.
She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, Nanny, sister, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ab and Correne Eller; husband, Jack Hobbs; siblings, Royce Eller, Foyce Johnston, Dutch Eller, Darlene Howdeshell, Jimmy Eller, Jane Mullen, Ronnie Eller, and Junior Eller.
Dessie is survived by her daughters, Teresa Scott and husband Russ of Muskogee, Darla Milligan and husband Nick of Wagoner; grandchildren, Wesley Scott and wife Kelsey of Broken Arrow, Wade Scott and wife Mandy of Muskogee, Stephanie Spangler and husband Rob of Newcastle, Chase Milligan and Megan Flurry of Wagoner; great-grandchildren, Alexis Scott, Maci Scott, Evie Spangler, Eli Scott, Grace Milligan, Addi Spangler, Ava Scott, Kash Milligan, Sloane Kate Scott, and Charlie Jo Milligan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, church family, and friends.
