THINGS TO DO

David Ronald Franklin, 75

Born Tuesday, September 4, 1945

Died Tuesday, June 8, 2021

David Ronald Franklin, 75, passed away on June 08, 2021 in Muskogee, OK. He was born on September 04, 1945 to Myrle and Juanita Franklin in Sulphur, OK.
After graduating from Muskogee Central High School in 1964, David attended and graduated from OSU Okmulgee Tech. He married Karen Bishop in 1967, then continued his education at NSU in Tahlequah, graduating with a Vocational Teaching degree. David taught in the Printing Department at OSU Okmulgee Tech and later taught at Muskogee High School, where he continued his education earning a master’s degree from Oklahoma State University.
His first son, Ronnie was born in 1969, the day he was to leave for basic training. He served in the National Guard and Army Reserve for 6 years. His second son, Scott was born in 1972. David was thrilled he had two sons that would grow up together in love and mischief, as they do to this day.
In 1977, after several years of teaching, David opened his own printing business, Franklin Graphics, later Franklin Digital, where it continued until shortly before his death.
David loved sports. He especially loved the baseball field. Many childhood memories and friendships were forged there. He moved to the softball field as he got older to play with church leagues with many of his same childhood friends. There were many evenings a basketball game went into overtime with his boys in the driveway. There might even have been a few sock football games breakout in the living room.
David loved a great mountain view on the back of a motorcycle from dirt bikes and four wheelers in the Ozarks to a picturesque view of the Grand Canyon on his Gold Wing. Every trip home was the start of the next trip back.
David loved family and friends. He was always available for a helping hand or a word of advice. Always putting others needs in front of his own.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Myrle and Juanita Franklin; daughter-in-law, Tara Franklin; brothers-in-law, Boyd Stiles and Terry Bishop.
David is survived by his sons, Ronald Franklin and wife Shellie of Oklahoma City, OK, Scott Franklin of Athens, AL; ex-wife, Karen Franklin of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Britany Dennis and husband Shiloh, Taylor Franklin, Addie Franklin, Trinity Hendrick and Brylee Franklin; great-grandchildren, Ellie Dennis and Rollo Dennis; sister, Myrlita Stiles of Plano, TX, brother-in-law, Bruce Bishop and wife Laurie; sisters-in law, Jacque Knapp and husband Steve, Patty Bishop and many nieces and nephews.
