Chenina Rae Miller, 51

Born Friday, September 12, 1969

Died Tuesday, October 13, 2020

Chenina Rae Miller, 51, entered Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. She passed away at Saint Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, OK.

Chenina was born in Muskogee to Alyn Miller, Sr. and Martha (Billy) Bunner on September 12, 1969.
She went to high school at Okay High School and graduated in 1987. She went on to earn a degree in Science from Bacone College.

Throughout life, Chenina was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children: her daughter, Whitney Rae Cleary and her two sons, Tommy Lee Miller, and Dennis Michael Bunner. She always put her children first in life and each of them trusted and depended on her regularly for love and support. She had a special bond with each of them and made sure throughout her life they knew how important they were to her and how proud she was of each of them. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a Grandma to her grandson, Remington Ray Steele. Her grandson can attest to the fact that she had “the patience of a Saint” and never lost her temper with him or even raised her voice. Always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind, she was always so immensely proud of him. She loved him more than anything else in life and always made that clear to everyone that knew her.

In 2012, she married David Southern and spent many years enjoying life with him until the very day he went to be with the Lord in 2018. Chenina spent many years of companionship with David and loved him deeply. She missed him and looked forward to the day that they would be together again.

Chenina will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest treasures include Tommy, Whitney, Dennis, and Remington.

Chenina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends most of all. Her hobbies included painting, sketching, DIY projects, reading, writing, and uplifting and helping others. She enjoyed going to garage sales and antique sales. She was very creative and always had the most unique pieces.

Chenina was a lifelong member of Butler Creek Baptist Church. She had a strong relationship with the Lord and prayed for her family often.

Chenina was preceded in death by her husband, David Southern; grandparents, Lottie and Thompson Billy; brother, David Dusty Bunner; and cousins, Anita McBride, Brian McBride, and Paulette McBride.

She survived by her sons, Tommy Miller and Dennis Bunner; daughter, Whitney Cleary; grandson, Remington Steele; mother, Martha Bunner; brothers, Alyn Miller, Arrow Wilkinson, and Spencer Wilkinson; sisters, Dana Bunner, Tracy Bunner, Ree Wilkinson, and Tyra Wilkinson; aunt, Sharon McBride.
