Charles F. Capps, 92, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, January 2, 2021. He was born September 3, 1928 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Levi and Sleethea Capps.
He married Blanch L. Hughart on May 6, 1947 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 66 years together before Blanch passed away on December 9, 2013.
Charles served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1948 under Admiral Byrd in Operation High Jump in Antarctica on the USS Olympus.
In 1957, he gave his life to Jesus, which began a 62 year ministry with the Assemblies of God. Charles and Blanch pastored numerous churches and through their ministry many lives were changed by the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Charles will be remembered by his family and friends as a true man of God who lived what he preached.
On March 18, 2017, Charles married Debbie Greer. They made their home in Wagoner and attended Christian Chapel.
The joy of life was his family. He loved to play dominoes, eat home cooked meals, fish, and just be outside in the fresh air.
Charles is survived by his wife, Debbie Capps of Wagoner; daughter, Joyce Nelson and husband David; son, Mike Capps, all of Warner; step-son, Vince Greer and wife Michelle of Wagoner; grandchildren, Brandy Miller and husband Jody, Christy Potts and husband Stacy, all of Warner, Michael Capps and wife Felicia of Muskogee, Jeremy Capps and wife Emmy of Warner; great-grandchildren, J.D. Miller and wife Erika, Cody Potts and wife Haley, Triston Potts, and Cheyenne Miller; great-great-grandson, Stetson Potts; step-grandson, Brett Greer and wife Heidi; and step-great-grandson, Kaden Greer.
The viewing for Charles will be from 9AM-8PM, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Muskogee.
Charles’ life will be celebrated at 1PM, Friday, January 8, 2021 at Christian Chapel in Muskogee with Pastor Josh McElyea, Rev. Cecil Guthrie, and Rev. John Overton officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Capps, Jeremy Capps, J.D. Miller, Cody Potts, Jody Miller, and Stacy Potts.
