Cecil Sherman Hubbard, Jr., 87, of Elk City, OK formerly of Fort Gibson was born September 3, 1934 in Dover, AR to Cecil Sr., and Mary Edna (Laymon) Hubbard and was promoted to Heaven on Sunday, October 10, 2021 in Clinton, OK.
Cecil received his formal education and graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1952. Cecil enlisted in the United States Navy on August 20, 1952 in Little Rock, AR. He served on the USS Eldorado and was stationed at the U.S. Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, CA. He received an honorable discharge on August 19, 1955 in San Diego, CA. Cecil married Sandra Sue (Hogan) Hubbard Boepple in Ponca City, OK in 1960. To this union three children were born. Cecil started his career in the industrial supply business. Cecil’s career as an industrial supply salesman took him many places and made him many friends across the U.S. His hobbies included fishing, reading, hunting, feeding ducks but his true passion was his family especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by many.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn Yager; and his brothers, Denver Marcellus Hubbard, Van Harold Hubbard and David Dale Hubbard.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Danica Hubbard Henderson and husband Mark of Elk City, OK; sons, Douglas Sherman Hubbard and wife Dawn of Fort Gibson, OK, and Damon Dee Hubbard and wife SueAnn of Gothenburg, NE; his grandchildren, Ashley Callahan and husband Jared of Muskogee, OK, Cody Hubbard and wife Emily of Fort Gibson, OK, Hunter Mae Hubbard also of Fort Gibson, Hayden Hubbard and wife Caylee of New Bern, NC, Madison Hubbard of Camarillo, CA, Kaylee Hubbard of Gothenburg, NE, Benjamin Henderson and Jake Henderson both of Elk City, OK; nine great-grandchildren; extended family, and many friends.
Viewing will be noon-5PM Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home.
A celebration of Cecil’s life will be held 2:30PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK with Rev. Jared Callahan officiating. Casket bearers are Cody Hubbard, Hayden Hubbard, Benjamin Henderson, Jake Henderson, Madison Hubbard, and Kaylee Hubbard. Honorary casket bearers are Brad Coy, Danny Hubbard, Dave Hubbard, John Hubbard, Ashley Callahan, and Hunter Hubbard. Military honors will be observed.
