Carolyn Elaine LaBounty Goats, 80, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. She was born on September 7, 1939 to Homer E. Vice and Jewell Berniece (Clark) Vice in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In November of 1994 she married Burl A. Goats, they spent over 24 memorable years together.
Carolyn taught at Warner Public Schools for over 27 years. She was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Warner, attending for over 55 years. She loved to read and fellowship with the Joy Class at Southeast Baptist Church, but most of all, she deeply enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Jewell Vice; husbands, Kenneth LaBounty and Burl Goats; sister, Anita Stone-Johnson; and daughter, Brenda Webb.
She is survived by her 5 children, Rick LaBounty and wife Cindy, Tony LaBounty and wife Sharon, Kenny LaBounty, Chuck LaBounty, and Shelley Branam and husband Tim; stepson, Michael Goats and wife Debbie; 4 brothers, Larry Vice and wife Jeanetta, Lynn Vice, Steve Vice and wife Janet, and Kevin Vice and wife Danyne; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-granchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Family will receive friends 5:30pm-7:30pm Friday, November 15, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be 2:00pm Saturday, November 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Warner with Sam Dunn and Mike Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Warner Memorial Cemetery with Luke LaBounty, Shane LaBounty, Joshua LaBounty, Rickey LaBounty, Aaron LaBounty, and Daniel LaBounty serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Branam, Ken Baird, Leo Smithson, and Mark Calavan.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations to be made to the Warner High School Christmas Extravaganza (ATTN: Jeremy Jackson).
