Carmetha Lonnietta James Bryant was born August 10th, 1969 in Wichita, KS to LaRene James and the late William Boyd Coleman. She made her transition on July 28th, 2022 due to natural causes.

Carmetha spent the beginning of her childhood in Wichita, KS. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 10 year old and she remained steadfast in her faith throughout her entire life. Carmetha grew up as a very protective and responsible older sister to her two younger brothers Brad James and Tony James. She loved her brothers very much and would go to the ends of the earth for them if she had to. Growing up the three of them were inseparable.

Carmetha received her elementary and junior high education in public schools in Wichita, KS. After relocating to Texas, she continued to pursue her education. She always enjoyed school and was a very gifted and intelligent student. She was very enthusiastic, bubbly, and full of joy. She also loved being athletic, and she was quite the talented cheerleader for Hamilton Middle school. In 1987 she received her High School Diploma from Copperas Cove High School located in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Carmetha Bryant gave birth to and was the loving mother of two children. Her son Andrae Deshon James was bon in 1984. Some time later Carmetha married Chester Leroy Bryant. Through this union came Carmetha’s daughter Ashley Nichole Bryant, who was born in 1987. Carmetha loved both her children dearly. She was always tickled when she called Ashley by the nickname she gave her, which was “Buzz.”

Carmetha gravitated towards the field of hospitality as she thrived on being of service to others. In the various customer service positions Carmetha worked, people always referred to her as being exceptionally sharp, polite, and detailed-oriented. Those that knew her could always count on her smile and jubilant nature. Carmetha also never met a stranger. Although Carmetha was mostly quiet and observant, she was always known for her love of laughter and being positive. She loved to express herself through vivid and bright colors. She loved to dance and sing, and she had an eclectic taste in music. Carmetha also emphatically loved and enjoyed spending time with her many cousins, and they all loved her and enjoyed time with her as well. Carmetha was also a very doting auntie to her niece Carmella Sara Ann James, whom she would sit and talk with for hours on many different days and occasions. She would always refer to Carmella as her “Tweetie.”

She is preceded in death by, her father William Boyd Coleman; her maternal grandparents Lonnie James, Sr. and Della James, her paternal grandmother Webbie Coleman, her brothers Tony O’Neill, Tyrone, and Joshua (all of the surname James). Carmetha is survived by her mother LaRene James, her brother Brad James, her two children Andrae James and Ashley Bryant, her niece Carmella James and her paternal grandfather Jonny Coleman, as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and cousins.

Graveside rites, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethlehem cemetery, Pauls Valley, OK . Public viewing, one hour prior to service at cemetery.
