Bobby Joe Gann, 78

Bobby Joe Gann, 78, of Muskogee, OK passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. He was born on January 30, 1943, the fourth of five children born to John and Joy Gann in Muskogee, OK. He attended Muskogee public schools and graduated from Muskogee Central High School with the class of 1961. He joined the United States Air Force fueling B-1 bombers during the Vietnam War. Bobby later received an honorable discharge and returned home to Muskogee where he went to Northeastern State University on a GI bill.
After discharge from the service, he married Lana Pingleton and they had two boys, Mark and Steve. Bobby was so proud to have two boys and was very involved in coaching them in everything they did.
He worked at Acme Engineering, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Corp of Engineers from which he retired after many years of service.
Later he married Betty Long on November 23, 1990. They shared more than 31 years of life, marriage, and memories together.
Bobby loved family reunions, holidays, and any reason for his family to gather. He will always be remembered as a very loving man who never met a stranger.
He enjoyed building cars and having several old muscle cars and corvettes over the years. Bobby and Betty spent many weekends traveling with the car club. He also was very much into bluegrass music going to many festivals and considered all his bluegrass friends as family.
Bobby was very involved traveling all over the US watching his granddaughters, Paige and Carlee, play softball and hanging out with Jordan, Caleb, and Kenzi while they rode their ATVs, rodeoed, and played ball. He also supported Colby and Mikayla’s basketball and golf activities.
In his later years, he enjoyed spending time in the garage with Mark and going to the track to watch him race. Also he enjoyed creating Native American art and jewelry.
Bobby was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Joy Gann; son, Steven Gann; brothers, John (Wilma) Gann and David Gann; sister, Patsey Baker; and nephew, Dale Baker.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Gann of the home; sons, Mark Gann and Brian Long (Carla); granddaughters, Paige DeMasters (Landon), Carlee Jordan, Kenzie Gann, and Mikayla Long; grandsons, Caleb Gann and Colby Long (Alyson); great-granddaughters, Blakely Gann and Presley Long; sister, Janey Hanzarek (Jay); sister-in-law, Cheri Gann; special daughter-in-law, Nikki Gann; nieces, Terry, Sandy, Cindy, Liz, Cheryl and Teresa; nephews, Gary, John, Jay Lee, David and Chris; special friends, Mark Downing and Lorri Pontious; along with many other family members and friends.
Services will be at 10am, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with military honors being presented. Pallbearers will be Rodney Palmer, Nathan Elkins, Kyle Tingel, Colby Long, Gerald Glass and Eric Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Cook, Charlie Kaiser, Howard Barton, Jimmy Harris, Larry Caughman, Bob Barker and Jerry Carlton.
