Benji Ray Hotema, 42

Died Monday, August 3, 2020

Benji Ray Hotema, 42, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020. He was born on March 23, 1978 to Benny Rae Hotema and Bessie (Charley) Hotema in Gallup, New Mexico. Benji graduated from Muskogee High School with the class of 1996 and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Benji worked at Lowe’s in Muskogee as a sales specialist for many years. He loved taking family trips every chance he got and enjoyed watching old and new movies. Benji was an avid collector of 80’s movies and sci-fi movies. He also had a way of collecting friends wherever he went. He loved decorating his home every holiday and made sure his nephews and nieces were taken care of. Most of all he loved his family and would do anything for anyone who needed help. Benji will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cyrus and Georgine Hotema; maternal grandmother, Annie B. Charley.
Benji is survived by his parents, Benny and Bessie Hotema of Muskogee, OK; brother, Garrett Hotema of Muskogee, OK; sister and brother-in-law, Benita Hotema and Juan Becerra of Muskogee, OK; nephews, Victor J. Hotema, Jose A. Rodriguez and Benito S. Rodriguez all of Muskogee, OK; niece, Valencia J. Rodriguez of Muskogee, OK; maternal grandfather, Don Charley, Sr. of Chinle, AZ; and many friends.
A celebration of Benji’s life will be 2PM, Friday, August 7, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Woody Wilson and Rev. Benny Hotema officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Victor J. Hotema, Jose A. Rodriguez, Jr., Benito S. Rodriguez, Christian Taylor, Scott Wilson and Colton Brewer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Dreadfulwater, Michael Hotema, Jr., Jason McCaleb, Thomas Hotema, Michael Martinez, and special honorary, Don Charley, Sr., represented by Garrett Hotema to walk for him.
A meal will be served afterward at First Indian Baptist Church, 510 S. 9th Street, Muskogee, OK 74401.
