Police, fire and EMS work the scene at Boston Avenue.

Police are still at the scene of a double stabbing at Boston Avenue and South 30th. Witnesses say the two stabbing victims stabbed each other, while one victim was shot by police.

It’s not clear if one of the stabbing victims is also the shooting victim. Ambulances are en route to a Tulsa hospital.

Police tell MuskogeeNOW they will make a statement shortly.

UPDATE: a law enforcement source says a man was attempting to kill himself when a second man tried to stop him. An altercation ensued. When police arrived, the first man wouldn’t put down the knife, so police shot him. He is en route to a Tulsa hospital via helicopter.

A nearby church was in session when congregants heard gunfire and the church was put on lockdown.

8:29 PM update: According to Cpl. Michael Mahan of the Muskogee Police Department, two men were involved in an altercation, with one man trying to keep a knife-wielding man from injuring himself. The man trying to help was stabbed and police were called. The assailant cut himself and a third man attempted to stop him. Police arrived and broke up that fight, disarming the knife man. The knife man reached for his knife and approached an officer, who shot the man.

Police haven’t yet identified the officer who shot the man and the two injured men’s identities also haven’t been released.
