Two boats collided at the Three Fingers area on Tenkiller Lake yesterday, ending up with one boat sitting inside another, according to the Oklahoma Highway patrol.

William L. Chester, 31, of Hulbert was driving a 1999 Kawasaki PWC recklessly, according to the patrol. Meanwhile, Timothy C. Peevy, 30, of Park Hill, was anchored while friends and family members swam around his deck boat.

As Chester was “joyriding,” according to the patrol, his vessel turned toward Peevy’s boat and struck it on the port rear side, coming to rest inside the deck boat. Passenger Justin D. Torix, 36, of Welling, was treated and released from a Tahlequah hospital with a back injury. Seven other passengers, including four juveniles swimming in the water at the time, were not injured. Chester refused treatment for a foot injury.

No one in Peevy’s boat was wearing a flotation device.
