Teddy Franklin McElroy, 68, who is already charged with arson for allegedly setting a Fort Gibson house on fire with the victim inside it, is now also charged with assault and battery on a police officer as well.
On May 12, when police made contact with him regarding the arson case, McElroy had a coffee cup and lighter in his hands, according to an affidavit filed with the case. The affidavit goes on to say he was pacing back and forth and trying to walk away. As the officer tried to pat him down for weapons, he is alleged to have thrown his coffee on one of the officers. The officers grabbed his arm and he tried to light one of their hands on fire, the report states.
He later threatened to “blow up” one of the officers’ house, the affidavit states, and went on to say if he couldn’t blow the house up, he would stab the officer.
